About Starflower

Starflower is a beautiful, newly renovated home located in Mickleover. As you enter the front door, you will find a bathroom to the right and a staff office to the left. In front of you is a laundry room that leads to the back garden. On the ground floor, there is also a staff bedroom that looks out into the garden. The first floor of the home features an open plan kitchen, dining room, and living room. As you go up to the second floor, you will see the main bathroom to the right, with a bedroom directly in front. This bedroom can be used as either a staff bedroom or a young person's bedroom depending on whether it is a solo or shared placement. To the left is the young person's bedroom, which has its own en-suite bathroom. All shared areas of the house are accessible to young people, however in the interest of privacy and confidentiality, the staff bedrooms and office are locked at all times.

We understand that moving into a residential home can be a difficult and sometimes overwhelming experience. We strive to make our young people feel as comfortable and at home as possible, and we believe that everyone should be able to personalise their space.

We encourage every child to make their bedroom their own, from putting up pictures of their family and friends to painting the room. We also invite them to help decorate other shared areas of the house, such as the living room and garden. We believe that this helps them to become more settled, and to develop a sense of belonging and ownership in the home.

At Starflower, creating a welcoming and positive environment is our top priority. Our staff are all trained to be friendly and approachable, and to provide a safe and secure home for all of our young people. We also strive to create an atmosphere of acceptance and respect, where everyone can feel comfortable to express their views and beliefs.
